Vacations Are Hard Work

I love being on vacation, don't get me wrong. I could be on vacation forever. But I understand why some people go on vacation to the Bahamas to an all-inclusive resort where you don't have to do a damn thing. Vacations are hard work. All this getting up early and deciding where to go and what to see and is it too expensive...I'm thinking too much.

Yesterday we started at the Tuileries Gardens and walked to the Louvre. In the Tuileries they had modern art displayed every few hundred feet or so. It was an odd dichotomy between the old traditional gardens and some of the art work that was out there.

It costs 9 Euro to get in to the Louvre and even if you had the whole day, you couldn't see everything in that bloody place. You spend as much time trying to figure out how to get the hell out of the place as you do looking at stuff. Of course we made sure to see the Mona Lisa, which personally I think is overrated, but I guess I must be wrong considering the large piece of glass it's behind and the stanchions set up to keep people away from it.

Then we took a little bit of a walk by the river. Then later Gus and I took a walk from our apartment to the Eiffel Tower. I got a huge barbe a papa--cotton candy. They put a cup of pink sugar in a large bowl and out comes strings of yum. I got as much of it on my hands and jacket as I did in my mouth. What a mess.

Then on our walk back we passed by an outdoor photo exhibit on the Quai Branley. There were some great photographers.

I know this is short, but we're getting ready to go to Notre Dame and the Left Bank. Keeping wanting to say the West Bank--whole different place.

Some stats from yesterday...

Number of steps according to my pedometer 12781 (but I forgot it for our night walk :( )
Number of times some guy tried to sell us a flashing Eiffel Tower for one euro 8
Glasses of wine 3
