Welcome back

It's Sunday morning in Paris. I'm in a cafe waiting for the rain to slow down so I can rediscover this city.

I left Newark Friday evening- 4th of July and got into Paris Saturday morning. The flight was uneventful (once we actually got off the ground).

I got to watch Muppets Most Wanted. And got out of sitting in my cramped middle seat. There was a woman who was sitting in the window seat and she was apparently on the plane with a friend but they couldnt get seats together.  The aisle seat in our row was open.  About 10 minutes before take off she asks me if I wouldn't mind taking her window seat so she and her friend could sit together.  SCORE!! So she sits in my middle seat and her friend takes the unoccupied aisle.  Seriously like two minutes before take off the person who had the aisle seat showed up, so her friend had to go back to her original seat.  I'm glad she didn't ask me to go back to the middle.

After getting off of the plane I went through border control. The woman at the desk barely looked at me or my passport. But I did get my first stamp in my new passport.

The first person I speak to is a guy from Texas who is trying to figure out how to meet his girlfriend out at Versailles. I feel bad for him that he thinks I might be able to help him out. He mentions that no one seems to speak English. I tell him, "Yes, they do."  Maybe not out in the world, but I would be surprised if most of the airport staff didn't have basic English at least. Anyway, I hope he made it out there without too much trouble.

I'm staying in the apartment of one of the Paris Rollergirls, Crapule. This is the view from her  balcony.

Nice!  She lives in the 14th arrondissement just around the corner from a métro stop.

Okay. Rain is lightening up. More later.
